Meet Our Coaches
Mr. Rodney Jordan
Coach Rodney Jordan enters his 21st season in coaching and his second as Head Coach of the Satsuma Gators. Prior to coming to Satsuma, Coach Jordan served as Offensive Coordinator at Eufaula, Elba, and Charles Henderson High Schools. In 2019, his Eufaula Tiger offense led Class 6A in scoring by averaging 41.6 points per game. In 2016, his Elba Tiger offense averaged 43.2 points per game. His 2013 Charles Henderson Trojan offense set the school record by averaging 41.7 points per game as they finished as the Class 4A state runner-up. A native of Goshen, AL, Coach Jordan holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Science Education from Troy University, a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of South Alabama. While at Troy University, Coach Jordan was a member of the school's first FBS football team. Coach Jordan has been married to his wife, Donna, for 19 years.
Josh Andrews- Defensive Coordinator
Coach Andrews is entering his second year as the Defensive Coordinator for the Gators. He has had previous stops at Baldwin County where he had the number one scoring defense in the region and lead the team to their first playoff appearance in 14 years and first playoff win in 21 years; Thomasville where he was the co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach and saw the defense maintain a top 10 scoring defense each season; Clay-Chalkville, Elkmont, and Athens. He has helped develop numerous All-State and All-County players, as well as, seeing many players sign to play college football. He is married to Kristina Andrews, and they have 4 children: Raymus, Rayne, Rooney, and Reid. He is extremely proud to be a part of the Satsuma Family. Go Gators!
Dalton Steiner- Offensive Coordinator
Coach Dalton Steiner is entering his sixth year coaching, and his first with the Gators. He will be coaching the offensive line while assisting with the offensive game plan and structure. Coach Steiner has been married for 3 years to his wife Daisy, who is also an educator.
Rodney Hicks- Running Backs
The 2023 season marks Coach Rodney Hicks’ 22nd overall year in coaching. Coach Hicks serves as head baseball coach for the Satsuma Gators while also coaching running backs. A 1992 graduate of Satsuma, Coach Hicks earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of South Alabama. Coach Hicks currently teaches both Health and Driver’s Education at Satsuma High School.
Thad Prater- Defensive Line and Wide Receivers
Coach Prater is entering his second year of coaching at Satsuma, and his 28th year overall. He is a 1984 graduate of Tanner High School, received a bachelor's from Athens State University and a master's in Social Science from West Alabama. Before becoming an educator and coach in
1996, he worked in the steel industry. He has had coaching stints at Ardmore High School for four years, three years as defensive coordinator, winning a county championship; three years at Tanner High School as defensive coordinator; and 18 years at Athens High School as an
assistant defensive coach winning the 2006 5A Football State Championship. He has also had stints as head softball coach and baseball coach at Athens High School and has been named coach of the year twice in softball and once in baseball. He is currently the head coach of
Satsuma Gators Softball.
Justin Harris- Defensive Backs and Wide Receivers
Coach Harris begins his 2nd stint with the Satsuma Gators. He brings years of coaching experience to the football field. He graduated from Mattie T. Blount High School, earning scholarships to play football at several colleges. As a player, Coach Harris was coached by Hall of Famer Ben Harris and Arthur Haynes.
Harris played at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and later transferred to the University of South Alabama, where he continued his football career, and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Leisure Studies. He is currently working on his Master's in Education.
Coach Harris has coached at his Alma Mater and Spanish Fort (State Champions 2012), McGill-Toolen Catholic (State Semi-Finalist 2013), and Cottage Hill Christian.
In addition to his coaching role, Coach Harris serves as one of Satsuma High School athletes' strength and conditioning coaches.
Harris is married to Mrs. Angeleca Harris.
Jeff Moody- Middle School Head Coach
Coach Jeff Moody is entering his 22nd year in coaching. He began his career in 2002 as the Freshman Football coach at Citronelle High School. From there he went to Grand Bay Middle School where he coached Girls' Basketball and Football. After five years in Grand Bay, he went to Vigor High School where he was the offensive line coach for the 2008 5A State Championship team. He also started the soccer program at Vigor and spent time as the Varsity Girls' Volleyball coach. He went to Murphy in 2015. While at Murphy, he led the Panther Boys Soccer Team to two playoff appearances and also served as the Cross Country and Bowling coach. Coach Moody came to Satsuma in 2019, he has been the Varsity Boys' and Varsity Girls' Soccer coach. He is entering his second season as the Junior High Boys' Football coach. Coach Moody has a degree in History Education and a Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. He and his wife Joanna live in Daphne with their three children, Kaylie (SHS c/o 23), Raegan, and Brooks.
Korey Collins- Middle School Defensive Coordinator
Coach Korey Collins enters his fourth year of overall coaching and his second as Defensive Coordinator for the Satsuma Middle School Gators. Coach Collins works as a personal trainer, and strength and conditioning coach in the Mobile region for Club 4 Fitness. Coach Collins is a 2017 graduate of Saraland High School.
