Since 2012, the Satsuma City School System has been an independent school district. We have received acclaim as an undiscovered gem of K-12 education. Attention to individual dreams while encouraging students to reach their full potential sets our school system apart. SCSS is building a tradition of achievement in academics, athletics, and the arts. We take pride in providing students and their families a safe, nurturing, and challenging learning environment. We are excited about the promise of new ideas and new initiatives that will help create even better schools for the students and families we serve.
Satsuma High School provides relevant content and skills in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, physical activities, fine arts, wellness, technology, library media, and daily life lessons. We provide extracurricular activities that enhance the learning of students and provide differentiated instruction daily. Satsuma High School places a strong emphasis on preparing students to become productive citizens through academics, community service, and career preparedness. The implementation of College and Career Ready Standards and more rigorous expectations have allowed students to become leaders.
There are approximately 734 students at Satsuma High School, where we offer a rigorous academic slate that includes nine Advanced Placement courses, including Computer Science, and have begun to build a viable Career Tech program to assure that all of our students meet or exceed the expectation to be College and Career Ready. We currently offer students courses in Business Management and Administration, Public Safety, Corrections & Security, Health Education, and Human Services, in addition to dual enrollment opportunities in a Certified Nursing Assistant program and Welding. Our junior high academy offers a computer science elective as well. The faculty/staff breakdown at Satsuma High School includes 44 teachers, 1 principal, 2 assistant principals, 2 counselors, 1 media specialist, and 14 support staff members.
